legivel compared with Puppeteer, wkhtmltopdf and paid PDF services

Most features below are built into at least one other option. Only legivel has all eight built in, with nothing to install.

How we checked

The same Markdown file, made into a PDF three ways. Puppeteer 25.12 (Chrome 154, on a Mac) and wkhtmltopdf 0.12.6 (on Linux) used their default settings, after a common Markdown converter turned the Markdown into HTML. Click a page to see it larger. These come from the Markdown-to-HTML step and the default settings. Each can be changed with more setup.

Built in, out of these 88 of 81 of 82 of 8At most 3 of 8 in any one service

Most of these features are built into at least one other option. Only legivel has all eight in one place.

Built in: the tool does it by itself, by default or with one of its own settings.

Extra setup: it works only after you add another tool, a script or your own code.

Paid PDF services: we read the websites and documentation of 11 paid PDF services on 6 October 2026. The number counts the services whose own pages show the feature built in. A feature we did not find may still exist.

If you find a mistake, report it to support@legivel.com.

Good to know

legivel turns Markdown into PDFs. It does not print web pages or run JavaScript. It runs as an online service, so there is nothing to install or update. The layout and the fonts are built in, with a light and a dark theme.
