Terms of Service

These terms are a contract between you and Strimium S.R.L., MD-2003, mun. Chișinău, or. Durlești, str-la 4 Nicolae Testemițanu, 17, Republic of Moldova (IDNO 1019600057092) — "legivel", "we" — for the use of the legivel service at legivel.com: the web editor, the REST API at api.legivel.com and the MCP server at api.legivel.com/mcp. Where these terms distinguish consumers (individuals acting outside their trade or profession) from business users, the distinction is stated in the clause.

1. The service

legivel converts Markdown documents into PDF documents. Usage is metered in documents: one delivered document uses one unit of your plan's monthly allowance (the API calls this unit a credit; one document costs one credit — the two words name the same thing, and these terms say "documents"). Editor previews do not count. A conversion that fails after acceptance does not count either; the document is automatically returned to your allowance. Returned documents are service credits, not money refunds. Plans, prices, included documents and technical limits (document size, images, pages, processing time, request rates) are listed on the pricing page and apply per plan.

2. Accounts and eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate account information.
• Guests may use the editor without an account to preview and to download watermarked PDF documents, within published limits. Downloads without a watermark and API access require an account with a verified email address.
• You are responsible for your credentials and API keys, including use of your keys by automated agents or AI tools you connect (for example through the MCP server). Usage under your keys counts against your plan and is your responsibility. Keep keys secret; revoke a key immediately if you suspect it is compromised.

3. Your content

• You retain all rights to the documents you submit and the PDFs generated from them.
• You grant us the limited right to process your documents in memory, for the sole purpose of serving your request. We do not store your documents; see the Privacy Policy. Where your documents contain personal data, the Data Processing Agreement applies as part of these terms, with you as the controller and legivel as your processor.
• You are responsible for the content of your documents. You warrant that you have the right to use every remote resource (image or other file) referenced in a document; we fetch remote resources only on your instruction, hold them in memory for that conversion, and store none of them.
• Use of the service must comply with the Acceptable Use Policy. Accounts used to fetch or convert unlawful content are blocked, and abuse reports are acted on.

4. Seals (PDF digital signatures)

On paid plans you may have PDFs sealed with your own certificate, either supplied with a request or stored with us at your instruction.

• Sealing uses only certificates you provide. legivel has no certificate of its own and never signs documents itself. Storing a certificate records your authorisation: "I authorise legivel to apply this certificate to documents I submit, on my behalf, until I delete it." You can delete a stored certificate at any time.
• You are responsible for the validity of your certificate, your right to use it, and the legal effect of documents sealed with it. You must not seal documents in a way that misrepresents their origin.
• A seal is a standard PDF digital signature (ETSI CAdES). We make no representation that a seal constitutes a qualified electronic signature, a personal approval, the equivalent of a handwritten signature, or that it will be displayed as trusted by any particular PDF reader.

5. Plans, billing and renewal

• Paid subscriptions are sold by our payment provider as merchant of record: the provider is the seller of record and processes your payment under its own terms, named at checkout.
• Monthly and annual plans renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time, effective at the end of the paid period. Downgrades take effect at the end of the period.
• If a renewal payment fails and is not completed after the provider's payment retries, paid access ends and the account returns to the Free plan at the end of the period already paid. Nothing is deleted: your account, keys and stored certificates remain, and paid access resumes when payment does.
• Monthly document allowances do not roll over, except as expressly stated (for example, a mid-period upgrade carries unused included documents into the new period as a bonus).
• We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice; changes apply from your next renewal. If you do not accept a price change, you may terminate the subscription before it takes effect, and it otherwise ends at the end of the current paid period.
• Enterprise plans are governed by their contract and invoice terms where they differ from these terms.

6. Refunds

The Refund Policy applies, including a 14-day refund on the first payment of your first subscription. Statutory consumer rights, including the right of withdrawal for digital services, remain unaffected and are described there.

7. Fair use and limits

Plan limits (size, pages, timeouts, concurrency, request rates) are enforced technically and are part of the service description. You must not circumvent limits, metering or access controls, and must not resell the service without our written agreement. We may apply temporary technical measures (such as rate limiting) to protect service integrity.

8. Availability

We operate the service with professional care, but it is provided "as available": we do not promise uninterrupted availability, and scheduled or emergency maintenance may interrupt the service. Status information is published at status.legivel.com.

9. Intellectual property

The service, its software, design and documentation are and remain the property of Strimium S.R.L. or its licensors. Feedback you choose to send us may be used to improve the service without obligation to you.

10. Warranty and liability

1. The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded by law.
2. For business users: our total liability under this contract is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to liability (or, for free use, USD 100), and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit or loss of data — except in cases of intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body or health, for which liability is unlimited. If you use the service in the course of business, you indemnify us against third-party claims arising from the content of your documents or from your breach of Section 3 or the Acceptable Use Policy.
3. For consumers: your statutory rights and remedies apply in full. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes rights that the law of your country of habitual residence grants you and that cannot be waived by contract; the limitation in clause 10.2 does not apply to you.

11. Termination

• You may stop using the service at any time. You may delete your account on the account page, or request deletion by email to support@legivel.com. If a paid subscription is active, it is first cancelled with effect from the end of the paid period, and the account is deleted after that; the Privacy Policy describes what is retained after deletion.
• We may suspend or block an account that violates these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, or where required by law. Blocking is a human decision, not an automatic one; where reasonable, we will state the reason and, for remediable violations, give you an opportunity to remedy.
• In the event of a payment dispute (chargeback), we may suspend the paid functions of the account for the duration of the dispute; free functions remain available.

12. Changes to these terms

• We announce amendments by email to account holders at least 30 days before they take effect.
• For business users, continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
• For consumers, an amendment that affects your rights applies only with your acceptance. If you do not accept it, the contract continues unchanged until the end of the period already paid and then ends. Amendments required by law may take effect sooner.

13. Governing law, disputes, language

• For business users, these terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Moldova, and disputes are subject to the courts of Chișinău, Republic of Moldova. Enterprise contracts may agree arbitration instead.
• For consumers, you retain the protection of the mandatory law of your country of habitual residence and may bring or defend proceedings there; the choice of Moldovan law does not deprive you of that protection.
• These terms are concluded in English. Translations, where provided, are for convenience; the English text governs.
